Have students compose their own sentences as examples of the words.

Have students come up with their own uplifting words.

Have the students make a poster using one or more of the words.

Have the students write a paragraph using one, three, five or more of the words.

Have a story writing contest. Have the students write a one page story using the words. The story with the largest number of the words used appropriately wins. 

Type or print the words on slips of paper or index cards. Have the student select an unseen word from the stack and make a sentence. 

Start a chain using one word and see how far you can get around the room with each student using the selected word in a different application. 

Ask students to select their favorite words from the book and then to compose their own sentences with the selected words. They may even compile their own book. 

Select a word for the week. Print it on the board and write an encouraging message under it each day. 

Ask the students to create a screen saver for their computers using one or more of the words. 

Have the students write a letter to their parents, guardians, grandparents, etc. using some of the words. 

Have the students make a short speech incorporating some of the words.

Have students role play situations that include some of the words.

Have a pantomime contest in which a student acts out a word from the book and the others must guess which one. The student who is correct then takes his/her turn acting out a word. 

Type the words on strips of paper or index cards. Put them in a container face down and mix them up. Have a student select a word from the container, walk to the front of the room and make an impromptu speech using the word.

Have students make posters either for the classroom or to be placed around the school using the words. 

Have a Be a Lifter poster contest. Let students from another class judge the posters.

Let each student select a word from the book to put on an armband or name tag. That will be his/her name for the day or class period. 

Put the words on building blocks and have the students build structures with the blocks. 

You (teacher) select a word as your word for the day. Wear it as an armband or name tag. When students address you, they must use your word in an appropriate sentence. Mr. or Mrs. Brown that was an amazing history lesson. 

Have a group story writing contest. Divide the class into groups of four or five students each. Set a time limit. Ask the students to work together creating a story using the words. The story with the most words used appropriately or the most unusual story wins. You determine what the criteria will be.
